John Balch Memorial Chess Scholarship Fund

John's family and many friends have established this fund to honor and continue his incredible work helping children to learn to use their minds well. You can support John's vision in a tangible and lasting way through helping us to fund scholarships for deserving children to the Vermont Chess Camp and to other opportunities.

In the first year of this fund we received over 50 contributions that have been used to help deserving young people attend Chess Camp, attend tournaments, and supported individuals in their pursuit of the Game of Kings. Please join those who support Chess in Vermont by sending a contribution directly to:

Attention: John Balch Memorial Chess Scholarship Fund

Thank you for supporting the program that is one of John's great legacies in Vermont. Our "Johnny Appleseed of Chess" sowed the seeds of school chess programs, and there's now his wonderful orchard to tend.
